The Ernest Hemingway Society will sponsor two panels at the upcoming ALA Conference:

The 90th Anniversary of The Sun Also Rises

2016 marks the 90th anniversary of the publication of Hemingway’s novel The Sun Also Rises (1926). This panel proposes to revisit his major publication in light of today’s literary and scholarly climate. Paper topics may include but are not limited to: an examination of the recently published Hemingway Library Edition of The Sun Also Rises, which includes early drafts and deleted chapters; how the new volumes of letters published by Cambridge University Press add to and change our perspective on Hemingway’s process of writing the novel; influences and resonances; popular culture depictions of Hemingway as the author of The Sun Also Rises; the influence of Hemingway’s novel on contemporary writers; how we teach The Sun Also Rises in the 21st Century.

Please direct your 250 word proposal and brief C.V. to Matthew Nickel at  mnickel@misericordia.edu. The deadline for proposals is January 1, 2016. Papers will be limited to 15-20 minutes.
